I have tested and installed Shur-Flo gutter covers and I recommend them.
Shur-Flo covers install directly on to your gutters. They do not slid under your roofing shingles which is not recommended
and may void your roof warranty.

YES the guards, or covers are effective at keeping gutters and downspouts free and clear of debris. However, some work better then.
None will work correctly if they are not maintained yearly or if they are installed improperly.

Do you need to clean gutters with gutter guards?

The answer is YES. If anyone tells you that you will never have to clean your gutters again if you install a gutter cover they are not telling you the truth.
The truth is the inside of the gutter system will stay clog free longer however if you do not clean off the tops or the front openings depending on which cover you have or choose they become clogged with debris. Even gutter helmets clog. NO COVER IS CLOG FREE. That is why a once to twice a year cleaning is recommended.
